Parents were asked why they introduced english as their child’s first language and their answers are very interesting.
They were shocked that they’re kids did not know some of the most basic Filipino words
Parents said that learning the official language is still important for their kids since it is part of their culture.
Because they say that they can learn the English language in school but the Filipino language, they cannot.
Daddy Jeff also said that nowadays kids tend to learn the English langage instead of Filipino
“Language is an essential factor because this is the medium of communication for most learning activities” (Alcazaren et al ,2016).
Parents who are teaching their kids English as their first language or mother tongue affects the children’s communication with other Filipinos who cannot speak in English. Early childhood is the period for human growth and development, it is also a time when children are very sensitive and powerless. Children can be bilingual even with one spoken language only. (Alcazaren et al ,2016).
